Adult 600-1,800 mg daily divided in 2, 3 or 4 equal doses. Childn >1 mthSerious infection 8-16 mg/kg daily in 3 or 4 equal doses. More severe infection 16-20 mg/kg daily in 3 or 4 equal doses.
Discontinue use if hypersensitivity or severe skin reactions occur. Not to be used in meningitis, nonbacterial infections eg, URTI. Pseudomembranous & severe colitis; Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea. Perform hepatic & renal function test in prolonged therapy. Pregnancy & lactation.
